We Care Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador is established for humanitarian purposes to create and implement humanitarian programs and activities to support those in need. Our mandate is to provide free gender-based support program and services. Including programs and activities to address and end gender-based violence against immigrant, Black and other racialized women, girls and seniors and 2SLGBTQIA+. Another focus is to advance education of women and girls, poverty reduction, improve socio-economic conditions of newcomers/immigrants and the racialized in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
1). Address, Eliminate and Prevent Gender-Based Violence Against Immigrant, Refugee, Black and Other Racialized Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+:
Address gender-based violence by creating and implementing programs and services that will eliminate and prevent gender-based violence against immigrant and racialized women, girls, seniors and 2SLGBTQIA+
Offer intersectional, inclusive and culturally suitable programs and services for victims and survivors of gender-based violence and those at risk of experiencing gender-based violence. Including counselling, social and economic empowerment and advocacy.
2) Advancing Education:
Provide scholarships to qualified but underprivileged immigrant and Black and other racialized young women, girls and youth to enable them to pursue post-secondary education.
Donate school supplies such as books and stationary for underprivileged immigrant, refugee and racialized elementary school children and secondary school youth.
Offer after schools programs and tutorials for immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized elementary school children and youth.
3). Relieving Poverty:
Offer entrepreneurship/business skills training for unemployed immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized women, girls and youth.
Offer employment/job skills training for unemployed immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized women and youth who are crafters, artists and artisans.
Provide resources and skills training for immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized women and girls who are crafters, artists and artisans.
Provide relief supplies for immigrant, refugee and other racialized women, girls, youth and children including personal care products.
Support Food FirstNL and food banks in Newfoundland and Labrador through partnership and collaboration.
Provide essential supplies and resources to shelters for the homeless in Newfoundland and Labrador.
4). Improving Socio-Economic Conditions of Vulnerable Newcomers/Immigrants, Refugees and Other Racialized Families and Individuals.:
Operate social enterprise/business and use revenue generated from our social enterprise to offer social and economic empowerment support programs and services for vulnerable immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized families and individuals.
Address food insecurity among vulnerable newcomers/immigrants, refugees, Black and racialized families and individuals by providing them free food hampers, hot meals, grocery store gift cards and food vouchers.
Provide home furniture and other household items for newcomer/immigrant, refugee, Black and racialized families and individuals in need.
Provide counselling support services for immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized women, girls, youth and 2SLGBTQIA+ impacted by gender-based violence and other forms of violence.
Encourage and foster self-esteem, self-worth and self confidence in immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized women, girls and youth who have been impacted by violence.
Provide volunteer opportunities for new immigrants, Blacks and refugees in Newfoundland and Labrador and provide them the volunteer training and experience they need.
5). Reducing Unemployment:
Provide employability skills training to immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized people to enable them develop required employment skills.
Offer entrepreneurship skills training to immigrant, refugee, Black and other racialized people to enable them to start their own businesses. This will include training them on how to prepare business plan, obtain financing, bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, marketing, business management and government regulations.
Support and promote Black and immigrant businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Assist with creating local job banks for immigrants, refugee, Black and other racialized people.
Organize job fairs for unemployed newcomers, immigrants and Blacks, and connect them with local employers.
